Here are few options to get your 50 Acts of Kindness list started:

Step 2: Plan

This is your project, and you can shape it in many different ways. These are just a few ideas for one path. Feel open to add and take away as your members see fit.

  • Work with teachers and administrators to designate a Kindness Month
  • Write a letter explaining your plan and asking local businesses to pledge a certain amount of money if the school reaches its kindness goal
  • Find sponsors that will make donations if you reach your goal
  • Decide on an organization to donate the proceeds that are raised
  • Collect four prizes to be raffled off at the end of each week. (i.e., free tickets to prom, movies, school sporting event)
  • Make flyers both physical and digital to get the word out about the campaign and how people can participate. (try www.canva.com)
  • Create announcements promoting the campaign
  • Decide on a hashtag (#HundsonRAISE1000AOK)

Step 3: Set-up

Set up a Kindness Board somewhere prominent in your school. It should include…

  • 50 acts of kindness
  • A creative way to measure your success (Like one of those giant fundraiser thermometers)
  • Instructions for participating
  • Inspirations images and quotes
  • Create, decorate, and strategically place Kindness Collectors around the school

Step 4: Enact

  • Check Kindness Collectors at the end of each week. Update the Kindness Board every Friday afternoon or Monday morning so you can start each week encouraged by the progress.
  • Announce the raffle winners every Monday morning. Take a picture of the winner with their prize and post on the Kindness Board and online with the hashtag!
  • Make sure you schedule a time and place to present the charity with pledge donations at the end of the month. This would be a great moment for a giant check! Take pictures and post with the hashtag!
  • Undoubtedly your project met with great successes and few obstacles. Make sure you schedule at a post-project meeting where you celebrate the high points and smooth out the rough parts before next year’s project.
