In support of our last push for our #RiseTogetherStrong fundraiser, join RISE TOGETHERS’ Executive Director, Nadine Machkovech, for a live conversation with their latest mission ambassador announcement!
Earlier this year, RISE TOGETHER brainstormed about what could make this year even more powerful? We landed on knowing we needed a representative that has demonstrated a commitment to the betterment of young people struggling with substance use, mental health, and suicide prevention and is willing to use their platform as a means to do so.
MISSION AMBASSADOR: RYAN WILLIAMS
More about Ryan:
Ryan Williams was born on September 4, 1984, in Akron, Ohio. Growing up in a very musical family as a child would only nurture his passion for performing. His first musical loves were bands like The Beatles and Metallica. He truly fell in love with art form when he first experienced performing his own original music with the rock band HIdeway.
Williams would soon move on from Hideaway to create Red Sun Rising. This is arguably the most infamous band he’s known for, conquering the Billboard charts with seven top ten rock singles and two Number ones while touring the world and opening for giants like Godsmack, Tool, Alice In Chains, System Of A Down, and more.
During his stint of global musical domination, Williams would also go on to beginning his journey in sobriety. Recognizing that his reckless self-indulgence would be his demise and with the nudge from a few great friends, he checks himself into a 60-day rehab. Williams got sober in 2017 thanks to the support of Music Cares, a non-profit charity helping musicians in recovery. After rehab, he would soon return to the road.
Williams would go on to tour with Red Sun Rising until the band’s demise in 2019. He kept his sobriety close and became very passionate about continued self-improvement. He began sponsoring other young musicians and made it his mission to raise money for Music Cares. He plans always to maintain openness about his recovery to help reduce substance use and promote positive mental health.
“I am honored for this opportunity to be the first official ambassador for Rise Together.” – Ryan.
